“Create The Impossible” by LEGO

It seems LEGO finally recognized impossible object illusions as another great (optical illusion) way to promote their product. I’d like to think their inspiration came of this website – specially Escher Style category, but it’s much more likely they stumbled upon some of Andrew Lipson’s work, instead. I liked LEGO very much back being a kid, and have spent hours creating all sorts of incredible structures. I’m sorry it never occurred to me how fun would it be creating something like this. If you like these impossible creations, you’ll surely enjoy Lego Venice and these. Have to go now. Cya tomorrow!

Sexy Feet Optical Illusion

So who is perverted now!? Admit, how many of you were fooled and thought this is a very sexy photo of a young woman’s rear? Have to say originally I almost trashed this photo not seeing the illusion myself. For those of you who still don’t get it, the photo below represents feet of a woman grouped together. Many will first see it differently – either as woman’s rear, or maybe even woman’s chest with very long neck above (hardly). I’d like to thank Alonso Sola for sending this fine billboard.

Concerning the website, I made some small changes. If you try and use our search box now, the results will appear inside this website. This is opposite of previous Google search that opened in new window. You can find the search box inside the sidebar, and test it by entering some keywords (ie. try “cars”, “birds”, etc… ) Do you like the new search better, or should I bring the old Google one back?

Also, I have noticed many of you have subscribed to our newsletter (the featured news is currently located near the header above), but more than half still haven’t confirmed the subscription. When you subscribed, the confirmation email was sent to your mailbox. If you missed it, find it now and click the confirmation link inside. Simple as that – you’re now eligible to receive new illusions via email as well!

“See What I Say…” Roof Illusion

New day, new illusion and some newly registered visitors! Yes that’s right. I’ve never announced the new “Mighty Optical Illusion Members” feature (which is located at the bottom of the sidebar, but I see some of you were smart enough, and already made benefit from it :) It makes great joy every time I visit my homepage, and see that someone new joined this community – Thanks people! Keep doing it, and as the user number grows, we will gradually roll out some new member-features for you to enjoy. Now for the illusion…

Peter Cami explained everything, so no need for me to elaborate further. Thanks Peter – “Hi, I love your site and because of your widget, I’m drawn to it daily. For a while people have been working on the included piece of art. It’s situated on a steel/glass roof above an open space at the theater. You can see it’s not totally finished yet, but the guys are finishing the last letters. From the first day I knew it was gonna end up like something I’ve seen several times on your site. I’ve always loved these and even thought of integrating something like it in our shops. The text says ‘Zie wat ik zeg dat ik niet zeggen kan’ in Dutch – translated it is ‘See what I say, that I can’t say’. Kind regards and keep updating your site the way you do.“

Naughty, Naughty Statue Optical Illusion

Before you start calling upon this photo as being inappropriate, first check the second one posted right below it. I got this in an email for someone (forgot your name, sorry), and was little puzzled how the authorities allow these kind of rude statues, taking place in their city of jurisdiction. Then I saw the explanation in form of another-angled photo. Everything was clear then, and in its place. No need to additionally blame the authorities this time. But initializing the “angry mob” is always something that can be fun. Maybe not in this particular case, but soon I tell you – soon! Now click on that “Random Illusion Button” few hundred times, and bump our website’s impression count! Cya tomorrow!

Who Says We Don’t Have Barack Obama Illusion?

I thinks we had some pretty quality optical illusions lately. Do you share my opinion? As you probably noticed, Mighty Illusions has always been up to date with world news and politics. Those of you who follow this blog more deeply, remember my reflection on current economic crisis and USA Presidential Elections. Few weeks ago we presented you with brand new Barack Obama afterimage, but this wasn’t our last Presidential illusion – No Sir! Today we bring you another awesome Obama animation. This Scheibe Illusion was first conceived as the Margaret Thatcher Illusion, then updated to George Bush illusion, and finally updated to Barack Obama version. Barack states he is “pro-science”, so he probably won’t mind this.

The explanation of the image should go something like this: “Vestibular Correction keeps the image on your visual cortex steady even though your eyes are moving around wildly. But the vestibular correction system has its limits. What you see below is an animated GIF image which flips every five seconds. First look at the upside down image. Both faces look normal, but when they flip you will see how weird one of the faces really is. We have no trouble recognizing the person, but since we recognize facial features with a whole other part of the brain, the vestibular thing got garbled in part”.
